The colours also honour Haiti’s victory over French invaders in 1804. The ‘freedom road’ is coloured red because freedom is bought with blood whether literally or figuratively, freedom usually takes a bloody path. The display of red, white and blue also takes sarcastic jab at the so called democracy and freedom of ‘Western’ states.
